Who is Big Jay Oakerson?
Jason Michael "Big Jay" Oakerson, born on June 26, 1982, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is a stand-up comic, radio show host, podcaster, and actor. He is renowned for his laid-back style and candid comedic delivery, often delving into personal anecdotes and observational humor.
Oakerson spent his early years in West Philadelphia, attending Robert E. Lamberton High School. During his senior year, he relocated to the Blackwood section of Gloucester Township, New Jersey, with his mother and stepfather. He briefly enrolled at Camden County College but left after a month to pursue a career in comedy. To support himself during this period, he worked as a chauffeur and bouncer for strippers and at children's parties.
Over the years, Oakerson has become a prominent figure in the comedy scene, performing at major festivals such as Moontower, Bonnaroo, and the Just For Laughs festival in Montreal. His television appearances include Comedy Central's Premium Blend, Inside Amy Schumer, and HBO's P. Diddy's Bad Boys of Comedy. In 2016, he released his first hour-long special, Live at Webster Hall, filmed at the iconic New York City venue. He also hosted the crowd work-based series What's Your F@%king Deal?! on Seeso.
In addition to stand-up, Oakerson co-hosts several podcasts. He is a founding member of Legion of Skanks alongside comedians Luis J. Gomez and Dave Smith. He also co-hosts The SDR Show with Ralph Sutton and previously co-hosted The Bonfire on SiriusXM with Dan Soder, with Robert Kelly later joining as co-host.
