The Patrice O'Neal Roast

In 2003, a roast was held in honor of comedian Patrice O'Neal at New York City's Boston Comedy Club. Produced by Masavia Greer and Yumi Akiyama, the event was hosted by Rich Vos and featured performances by comedians such as Robert Kelly, DC Benny, Vanessa Hollingshead, Colin Quinn, Todd Barry, Jim Norton, Bill Burr, Lynne Koplitz, Ben Bailey, Keith Robinson, Greg Giraldo, and Patrice O'Neal himself.

The roast was recorded but remained unaired until 2021, when Comedy Anatomy released it in a three-part series on YouTube.

This release provided fans with a unique glimpse into the camaraderie and humor shared among these comedians during that period.

Additionally, in 2011, Patrice O'Neal participated in the Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen, which aired on September 19, 2011. This appearance was his final television performance before his untimely death two months later.

Running the Light
A raw, darkly funny, and deeply moving portrait of a comedian’s life on the edge. Following the chaotic journey of washed-up stand-up Billy Ray Schafer, Tallent’s debut novel dives into the highs and lows of the comedy circuit with brutal honesty and sharp wit. A must-read for anyone fascinated by the gritty reality behind the spotlight.

Harold

Steven Wright

Harold
Steven Wright’s Harold is a brilliantly surreal and hilarious dive into the mind of a 1960s third grader. This is one of my all-time favorite books, and the audiobook is a must-listen with Wright’s perfect delivery.
